A Killeen man is in critical condition after two men knocked on his door and shot him Sunday.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired just after 8:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Evergreen Drive, said Ofelia Miramontez, Killeen Police Department spokeswoman. They found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds, when they arrived on the scene.

The victim answered a knock at the door, and when he opened the door, two men asked him a name and if he knew the person, she said. The victim told the men he didn't know the person, and they shot him.

The victim was transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition, Miramontez said. His name is not being released at this time.

Police only described the men as black males.

Following the shooting, they fled on foot in an unknown direction, Miramontez said.
