BELTON — A Bell County grand jury indicted a Killeen man accused of shooting and stabbing a 43-year-old woman to death in December.
Daniel Lorenzo Wilson, 41, was indicted on a murder charge Wednesday, and could face up to life in prison if convicted.
Wilson is accused of killing Karen Louise Edwards in his apartment in the 900 block of Mimosa Street in Killeen on Dec. 9.
A witness said she saw Wilson shoot Edwards three times, then stab and cut her with “a sword” after a verbal altercation, according to an arrest affidavit.
The witness said Wilson forced her to help drag Edwards’ body to an abandoned residence nearby.
The witnessed escaped from Wilson and notified Killeen police of the incident.
Wilson was taken into custody about 7:40 a.m. Dec. 9 after a two-hour standoff with Killeen police and SWAT officers.
Officers at the scene found a large amount of blood in Wilson’s apartment, and seized “numerous” knives and swords from the residence, the affidavit stated.
Wilson and Edwards were “formerly romantically involved,” according to information from the Bell County District Attorney’s office.
In an interview with investigators, Wilson initially denied any wrongdoing.
He later said Edwards came to the apartment, and she “knew how to push my buttons,” the affidavit stated.
Wilson is in custody at the Bell County Jail. His bond is set at more than $1 million.
