BELTON — A Killeen man was indicted Wednesday by a Bell County grand jury on a charge of sexual assault.

Alejandro Cervantes, a 23-year-old soldier stationed at Fort Hood, has no previous convictions and is currently out on bond.

On Oct. 20, 2013, Cervantes’ 4-year-old victim allegedly said Cervantes made her touch his genitals and make oral contact as well, according to court documents.

When Cervantes was informed of the allegations, he allegedly said he was planning on committing suicide, according to the affidavit. A relative of Cervantes contacted the Killeen Police Department.

Killeen police were able to convince Cervantes to exit his home and surrender his 9 mm handgun before being placed in custody. The victim related the events to a Child Advocacy Center-trained forensic interviewer.
