Killeen police arrested a woman they say led them on a car chase while driving drunk.
Police arrested 52-year-old Brenda Lee Laurenti on Saturday following a brief pursuit.
An officer said he began following a vehicle driven by Laurenti after he observed her run a red light at the intersection of Elms and Trimmier roads, according to an arrest affidavit.
The officer followed her to the intersection of Trimmier Road and Central Texas Expressway, where he turned on his patrol car’s emergency lights and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
Laurenti continued to head north and ran a stoplight at the intersection of Trimmier and Jasper roads, the affidavit stated.
She then turned onto neighborhood streets and pulled into a driveway at a home in the 2200 block of Estelle Avenue. While arresting her, the officer said he smelled alcohol on her breath.
Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned Laurenti on Sunday and set her bail at $20,000.
In an unrelated case, Potvin arraigned Tyra Marie Williams, 40, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram. Williams’ bail was set at $25,000.
