Killeen police charged a 52-year-old man with drug possession after they said they found more than 200 grams of alleged methamphetamine hidden in his car.
Nasser Assed was charged with possession of a controlled substance, 200 grams or more but less than 400 grams.
Police arrested Assed following a traffic stop Friday in the area of Rancier Avenue and Twin Creek Drive in Killeen.
An officer initiated the stop after following Assed and witnessing him make several turns without signaling, an arrest affidavit stated.
The officer asked to search the vehicle. Assed declined.
Police brought a drug-sniffing dog to the scene, which alerted to the possible presence of narcotics, the affidavit stated.
Police searched the car and found a large bag of a substance that tested positive as methamphetamine under the driver’s seat.
Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned Assed, setting his bail at $100,000.
In an unrelated case, Cooke also arraigned Michael Ace Pierce, 24, on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Pierce’s bail was set at $25,000.
