Killeen police asking public’s help to solve murders from 2003 and 2009

The Killeen Police Department is asking for the public’s help to resolve two unsolved murder cases.

The department asked for any information related to the murders of Zara Garcia and Pvt. Joshua M. Wyatt. The request was made via the department’s Facebook page.

Garcia, 31, was found dead by police in the 1600 block of North Ave D on Nov. 26, 2003, around 10 a.m., according to police reports.

Garica’s body was found in a Dumpster, and Dallas medical examiners ruled death as the result of strangulation and suffocation, according to information from Bell County Justice of the Peace Garland Potivn’s office.

Wyatt, 22, was shot at his residence in the 3400 block of Victoria Circle around 11:19 p.m. on Nov. 23, 2009. Wyatt was on the floor of his apartment suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to previous reports. Wyatt died at Skylark Airfield as he was about to be transported to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
