Killeen police have identified the victim shot and killed in an early morning homicide Sunday as 29-year-old Daniel LeBlance Magee, of Killeen.

Magee died from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to an initial autopsy report from the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences at Dallas.

Police responded to a shots-fired call in the 2300 block of Wales Circle at 3:09 a.m.

When police arrived, they found Magee in the street with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Fort Hood’s Darnall Army Medical Center, according to a news release.

Magee was pronounced dead at 5:35 a.m. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke ordered an autopsy.

The incident is under investigation, and more information will be released as it is made available, police said.

This was the 11th homicide in Killeen since Jan. 1. John Seth Jr., 80, was shot and killed on May 30 in front of his home. Police arrested Santiago Vasquez, his 84-year-old neighbor, and charged him with murder.
