Killeen police arrested a man they said stole a woman’s utility bill payment and cashed it.

Police charged Odis Wayne Reid, 56, with forgery by making. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned Reid on Wednesday, setting his bail at $20,000.

According to an arrest affidavit, a woman reported in June that a money order she placed in a mail box to pay her utility bill was stolen.

An investigator from First National Bank discovered the $90 money order was cashed by Reid. Police went to the bank where he allegedly cashed the check and spoke to a teller.

The teller verified that Reid cashed the check by writing his identification number on it.

Police arrested Reid on Tuesday in the 2200 block of East Veterans Memorial Boulevard.

He remained in Bell County Jail Wednesday night.
