UPDATED, 5:57: The stand ended just after 5:45 p.m., when police used chemical munitions to flush the suspect out of the home.

No one was injured, and police are not releasing his name until he has been formally charged. Residents will be allowed back into their homes once police have cleared the residence, Smith said.

UPDATE, 5:23 p.m.: The standoff continues. Smith said that it is not known if the suspect is armed, but some of his warrants did involve weapons.

Police evaluated homes in the neighborhood, leaving many nearby residents to wait while the situation plays out.

Killeen High School student Trevell Holgate lives on Sunset, and said he met the suspect on a few occasions.

"I ran into him a couple times, and he seemed off," said Holgate. "I wasn't surprised."

Holgate didn't know the man's name, but said the police had been to the home before.

Killeen police and SWAT officers are engaged in a standoff with a suspect who barricaded himself in his home Tuesday afternoon.

The indecent began just after 1 p.m., when Killeen police were assisting another agency in serving multiple felony warrants on the suspect, described as a 29-year-old male. The man refused to come out of the home.

Killeen Police Department Spokesperson Carroll Smith said the man refused to come out of the home, located in the 1800 block of Sunset Drive. The department called its tactical response team to the scene around 2:30 p.m.

Currently the man is still in the home, Smith said. Police do not believe there is anyone else inside the residence with him.
