UPDATE: A man was taken into custody and the stand-off ended late Tuesday night, police said.
Killeen police and SWAT are currently looking for a suspect who evaded arrest at a home in the 2100 block of Moonstone Drive this afternoon.
As of 7:45 p.m., officials were sweeping the backyard of the residence with K-9 units.
According to news station KCEN, the suspect led police down Old Farm-to-Market 440 at an unknown range of speed in a vehicle, officials said. One police cruiser hit a pole at the intersection of Anna Lee Drive and FM 440.
The following streets have been closed off: Ledgestone Drive, Sandstone Drive and Moonstone Drive.
Willow Springs Elementary School was placed on lockdown this afternoon about 3:50 p.m. while police in the area of the school conducted a search for a suspect around Moonstone Drive.
There were about 50 students still at the school at the time of the lockdown, all of which were safe, according to an email from KISD chief communications officer Terry Abbott.
The school district allowed parents to pick up their children and take them home at their request, but did not allow students to leave without their parents. Students inside will remain there until police give the all-clear.
