The Killeen Police Department needs help solving two murders that occurred 24 years ago.

On March 7, 1990, the bodies of Juan Castillo, 39, and Jose Guerrero, 36, were discovered floating in the Lampasas River near Youngsport. Both men had extensive stab wounds.

One man’s throat was cut and the other had severe injuries to his face, police said.

Castillo had been reported missing, and police found blood stains and evidence of a struggle at his residence in the 100 block of East Texas Avenue on March 6, 1990.

Guerrero, Castillo’s friend, also was reported missing, according to police.

All unsolved homicide cases are considered “open” by the Killeen Police Department. According to the department’s website, three other murders went unsolved in 1990. Anyone with information about these cases can call the Killeen Police Department at 254-501-8800 or Bell County Crime Stoppers at 254-526-8477.
