Killeen police arrested a 31-year-old man who was allegedly involved in a disturbance at a local VFW post that involved gunfire.
Police charged Caffery Darnell Joseph III with unlawful carrying of a weapon on licensed premises.
Joseph admitted to taking a firearm onto the property of the VFW on Feb. 16. The establishment is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages, an arrest affidavit stated.
Another man also admitted to having a gun in the VFW’s parking lot the night of the disturbance. A complaint lists him as a co-defendant, but he has not yet been arraigned.
Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned Joseph on Thursday, setting his bail at $20,000.
In an unrelated case, Potvin arraigned Gilbert Garza Jr., 42, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram. Garza’s bail was set at $25,000.
