A fight involving more than 30 juveniles and adults that broke out at the Killeen Mall on Saturday night resulted in eight arrests.
Four minors and four adults (seven male and one female) were charged with riot, Cmdr. Alex Gearhart said in a news release. The female was also charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon.
None of the suspects were identified by police; no significant injuries or property damage was reported.
Responding units stopped individuals described by police as instigators as they attempted to leave the scene.
Officers also located two handguns, one of which was reported stolen out of Austin, in a stopped vehicle.
Off-duty officers working a security detail inside the mall reported the large fight about 6:19 p.m. Saturday.
As officers began arriving, the crowd dispersed but smaller groups continued fighting inside and outside the mall building, the release said. Initial reports indicated shots were fired inside the mall but that could not be verified, police said.
Because of the shots fired report, first responding officers formed a reaction team and swept through the mall searching for armed suspects or possible victims. No armed suspects or victims were located.
