Herald/MARIANNE LIJEWSKI A closed store sign with flowers sit at the front of the Star Mart on Zephyr Road Thursday morning in Killeen. A shooting occurred outside the store late Wednesday night with one fatality and one injured.

One man is dead and another is wounded after a shooting outside a local convenience store late Wednesday night.

According to a Killeen Police Department news release, the shooting occurred just before midnight outside the Star Mart Convenience Store in the 3600 block of Zephyr Road.

The department’s preliminary investigation reported, the deceased victim had arrived in a white Toyota Camry to pick up the male attendant, who had just closed the business. After the vehicle's driver pulled into the store's parking lot, three armed black males, who were dressed in dark clothing and had their faces covered, ran up to the vehicle.

The men robbed both of the victims, shooting them multiple times before fleeing the scene in the Camry, the release states.

The victim’s vehicle was later found abandoned in the area of Highland and Stetson Avenues.

One of the victims died at the scene, and the other was transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center. He was later transported to Scott and White Memorial Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

As of this morning, police are still looking for the men reportedly involved in the incident, and detectives are asking anyone with information about this shooting to contact the Bell County Crime Stoppers at 526-TIPS (8477), or text KILLEEN along with your tip to 274637.
