Representatives from several local law enforcement agencies met on Fort Hood Tuesday to participate in summit on prescription drug abuse.

The summit included training and information on issues such as prescription drug identification, lawful prescribing and prevention of diversion, pharmacy theft and pharmaceutical counterfeiting.

Agencies in attendance included Fort Hood police and Criminal Investigation Division, the Bell County Sheriff's Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and the police departments from Killeen, Harker Heights and Belton.

The summit, hosted at Club Hood, was organized by pharmaceutical company Purdue Pharma L.P, which manufactures a number of prescription drugs including Oxycontin.
