A 25-year-old man was arraigned on a felony charge Sunday after police said he threatened his girlfriend with a knife.

Joe Lewis Fitzgerald Jr., of Austin, was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin on a second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the alleged attack, which occurred Friday.

According to an arrest affidavit, Fitzgerald’s girlfriend said he was over at her residence when he pulled out a knife.

The woman said Fitzgerald held up the knife and threatened to kill her.

Fitzgerald is in Bell County Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.

Potvin also arraigned Ashley Nichole Paige, 28, on an unrelated charge of fraudulent use of identifying information.

While being booked into the Killeen jail Thursday, police found several checks drawn from multiple accounts in Paige’s possession. An officer said she was present at a bank when Paige attempted to pass one of the fraudulent checks. Potvin set her bail at $50,000.
