COPPERAS COVE — A man was arrested Monday after firing a handgun near an apartment complex, police said.
Antonius Keonate Upshaw was arraigned Tuesday by Justice of the Peace Bill Price on a charge of deadly conduct.
Police said an officer responded Monday to a report of shots fired at the Willow Creek Apartments in Copperas Cove. A witness said a male was hiding behind rocks and shooting.
Upshaw was arrested on a charge of knowingly discharging a firearm in a reckless manner toward a building that was occupied.
A Taurus handgun and seven spent .40-caliber shell casings were recovered at the scene.
Upshaw’s bail was set at $5,000
In an unrelated case, Edward Lee Steadman was arrested Sunday in Copperas Cove and charged with driving while intoxicated.
He was arraigned Monday by Price. His bail was set at $8,000.
