Police arrested a man who allegedly shot an opossum in his front yard.
Officers were dispatched early Thursday morning to Jesse James Wyrick’s residence in the 1200 block of Monroe Loop in Killeen after receiving a call of shots fired.
Upon arrival, the officer saw 14 shell casings in front of Wyrick’s residence. Later, the officer found a handgun matching the caliber of the shell casings and the brand of rounds in the handgun, according to an arrest affidavit. Wyrick later admitted he fired the handgun at an opossum in the front of his residence, which is within Killeen city limits, the affidavit stated. He was arrested and transported to Killeen City Jail about 5:45 a.m. Thursday.
Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned Wyrick, setting his bail at $2,000.

- Jeffrey Scott Harris, 46, on a charge of criminal mischief, setting his bail at $20,000.
- Marcus Lesean Wilson, 26, on a charge of evading arrest or detention in a vehicle, setting his bail at $20,000.
