COPPERAS COVE — A Cove man was arrested Thursday on charges stemming from a hit-and-run accident.

Cristian Julio Carela was charged with accident involving personal injury or death. He was arraigned Friday by Justice of the Peace Bill Price and his bail was set at $5,000.

According to an arrest affidavit, officers were dispatched Thursday to North Drive on a domestic dispute call.

A woman said she had an argument with her boyfriend, and he left in her white Acura at a high rate of speed.

When he returned with the car, the front bumper was missing and the right side of the vehicle was damaged.

In the meantime, police received a report from a woman who said her vehicle was struck by another car, whose driver did not provide identifying information before leaving the scene.

The damage to the Acura matched the accident and the victim’s description of the driver matched Cristian Julio Carela, according to the affidavit.

Geno Martoine Johnson was arrested Saturday on a charge of assault of a family member by impeding breathing and circulation.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace John Guinn on March 9. Bail was set at $10,000.
