Copperas Cove police arrested an 18-year-old man Sunday in connection with an attempted robbery Dec. 19.

Police said Dezay Cooks was one of multiple suspects in a robbery attempt of a male victim attempting to purchase a pair of shoes. Police said the suspects drew a handgun on the victim and fired a shot at him as he fled.

Police said the victim was unharmed during the incident.

Following the shooting, the victim helped police identify multiple suspects, including Cooks. Police then issued a warrant for Cooks’ arrest.

On Sunday, police spotted Cooks driving a vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. During the stop, police found marijuana in the vehicle.

Cooks was arrested and arraigned on charges of aggravated robbery and possession of marijuana and was assigned a total bond of $53,000.

Cooks is being held in the Coryell County Jail.

Cove police are still seeking other individuals involved in the alleged incident.
