A 21-year-old Arkansas man facing a capital murder charge was arrested Tuesday in Copperas Cove on capital murder charges.
Chestly Wayne Gaston Jr., of Jessieville, Ark., surrendered without incident at the Copperas Cove police headquarters at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, after fleeing his home state one week ago, according to an arrest affidavit.
Gaston is one of three people suspected in the death of Dan Roberson, 71, who was found in a wooded area July 9 in Garland County, Ark., according to the Hot Springs (Ark.) Daily newspaper.
Gaston also is accused of stealing Roberson’s truck.
Justice of the Peace Bill Price arraigned Gaston on Wednesday, on charges of fleeing justice, but denied his bail.
Two other suspects are in custody in Arkansas.
In unrelated incidents, Price arraigned Keith Alan Garris and Kody Douglass Miller on a charge of burglary of a building. Garris’ bail was set at $8,000. Miller’s bail was set at $5,000.
Price also arraigned Dorian Maurice Chalk on a charge of unlawfully fleeing arrest. He is accused of theft of labor and services in Illinois. Chalk’s bail was set at $25,000.
