Man arrested on warrant from Alabama

COPPERAS COVE — Police on Monday arrested a man suspected of fleeing from the justice system and a woman who allegedly helped hide him.

Justice of the Peace Bill Price arraigned Rafael Olajuwon Wright on Tuesday on a charge of fugitive from justice. He set his bond at $25,000.

Price also arraigned Sheletha Marie Dailey-Locke on Tuesday on a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution. He set her bond at $5,000.

About 9 a.m. Monday police were trying to serve a felony warrant issued by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department in Alabama on Wright at his suspected place of hiding — a residence in the 200 block of Sorrel Drive in Copperas Cove, an arrest affidavit stated. Officers on the scene supposedly met with Dailey-Locke at the front door of the home and she stated Wright was not at the residence.

When officers requested to check the home, Dailey-Locke refused to let them until they obtained a search warrant. After officers received a search warrant, Dailey-Locke allegedly admitted to lying to officers and Wright was reportedly discovered in the home.

Wright’s Alabama warrant accused him of possessing and receiving a controlled substance and failure to appear in court for trafficking marijuana.
