UPDATE 4:21 p.m. The Killeen police officer previously listed as in serious condition has digressed to critical condition, according to KPD spokeswoman Carroll Smith. She said the male officer is an 18-year veteran of the department.
The other officer, who is a 9-year veteran of the department, remains in good condition.
Smith said through the investigation it was learned that four officers were hit by gunshots, but two of them were protected by their safety equipment. They were treated and released from the hospital.
Names of the officers are not being released at this time.
Smith said the subjects are a 49-year-old male and a 50-year-old female. Their names are being withheld. She said they are also not releasing what the search warrant was for at this time.
UPDATE 1:15 p.m. FBI agents and Texas Rangers were seen on Circle M, processing the crime scene.
UPDATE 10:52 a.m. Danielle Joseph, a neighbor who lives in the four-plex next to where the shooting occurred, said she was awoken early this morning by SWAT Team officers on her porch.
“I was sleeping and I just heard bullets and (police officers) started knocking on my door telling me they were standing on my back porch,” she said. “My heart just dropped. I heard shots, it sounded like a lot of shots just spraying.”
A woman who lives in the apartment across the street from where the shooting took place, who identified herself as M. Simpson, said it’s not unusual to hear gunshots in the neighborhood, but she’s never heard anything like what she heard this morning.
“I woke up and heard gunshots and hollering,” she said. “It sounded like the cops hollering at the man in the house and then it was just gunshots and sirens. We hear shooting all the time at night, but never this bad.”
Simpson said she’s spoken to the male subject in passing before.
“I haven’t had conversations with them, but I’ve talked to them just saying ‘hey,’” she said. “My husband had a birthday party and everybody came, and he was one of them. He seemed weird, but I didn’t think he was that stirred to do all that.”
KPD Spokeswoman Carroll Smith said there is no update on the condition of the officers at this time.
UPDATE 8:39 a.m. The officer listed in stable condition has digressed to serious condition, according to the KPD. The other officer is in good condition.
Two police officers were shot in an early morning shooting on Circle M in southwest Killeen, according to a spokeswoman for the Killeen Police Department.

Both suspects have been taken into custody. The two police officers were transported to Scott & White where one is in stable condition and the other is listed in fair condition, Smith said. The names of the officers and suspects have not been released at this time.
