COPPERAS COVE — Police on Wednesday arrested a Copperas Cove man suspected of sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl multiple times in 2012, and Thursday, officers served another two warrants for similar charges based on incidents in 2013 involving a second victim.
Justice of the Peace Bill Price arraigned Jason Wade Pruitt on Wednesday on a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a young child. Price set his bond at $100,000. Price on Thursday also issued warrants for aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child charges against Pruitt.
According to one arrest affidavit, the victim’s mother reported to police Sunday that her daughter told her she was sexually molested by Pruitt.
The victim on Thursday told investigators Pruitt allegedly touched her genitlas on several occasions, possibly more than 10 times. The most recent incident occurred July 26, stated the affidavit.
A second victim, who was 11 years old during an earlier incident, told her neighbor and a counselor in October that Pruitt allegedly showed her adult movies and fondled her while she visited his Copperas Cove home.
Later that month, the victim also told investigators Pruitt allegedly had been sexually touching her since she was in the second- or third-grade when she stayed with him after school, the affidavit stated.
The victim told investigators the last incident with Pruitt occurred just weeks before her October interview.
