Killeen police arrested a man they believe sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl during the summer.

Police arrested 37-year-old Michael Shane Chick on Wednesday and charged him with aggravated sexual assault. Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned Chick on Thursday, setting his bail at $100,000.

Police believe the sexual assault occurred at some point while the child was in Chick’s care as late as July 20. The mother of the girl told police she had left the child under his supervision while she went to work on that date, an affidavit stated.

When the child was interviewed by a forensic investigator, the girl said Chick made her watch a pornographic movie and later forced her to perform a sexual act, the affidavit stated.

Police arrested Chick just before noon Thursday at a home in the 2000 block of Little Nolan Road in Killeen.

Potvin also arraigned Richard Stephens Allen, 49, on a charge of theft of metal. Allen’s bail was set at $20,000.
