A man has died in Killeen after being shot Wednesday afternoon.

The victim of a shooting reported around 12:50 p.m. in the 4400 block of Maggie Drive died from injuries related to the incident, according to Killeen police. He was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers responding to the call were told “two males, the homeowner and an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal (altercation) that became physical. During the altercation, one of the males was shot. The gunshot victim was transported to Metroplex Hospital,” said KPD spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez. The victim’s name was withheld pending notification to his next of kin, police said.

Police have not announced any arrests in the case.
