A welfare concern check in Killeen led to the arrest of a man on a charge of possession of MDMA Sunday.

Norman Jeffrey White, Jr., 32, was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown on a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram. He was held in the Bell County Jail on $30,000 bond, but has since bonded out.

Sunday, two officers went to 600 W. Hallmark Ave. in reference to a welfare concern. There, they found a man, later identified as White, asleep in a Mazda. As officers approached the car, they smelled marijuana, according to the affidavit for arrest.

When White was asked to leave the car, the officers noticed his hand was behind the door, and suspected he was hiding something, according to the affidavit. White told the officers they could search his car, and officers found three pills and a green leafy substance that officers believed to be marijuana, according to the affidavit.

White told the officers that the pills were ecstasy, and it tested positive with a field kit.
