GATESVILLE — A Granbury man was sentenced to 45 years in prison after pleading no contest to a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child in the Jan. 7 assault of a 9-year-old autistic boy in the Pearl community of rural Coryell County.

Bryan Ray Roe, 33, was sentenced Wednesday in 52nd District Court by Judge T.D. Farrell.

The assault took place in a vacant building adjacent to the Pearl Community Center on Farm-to-Market 183, Sheriff Johnny Burks said in a news release. Roe was arrested a short time later.

Investigators learned that Roe was a high-risk registered sex offender, Burks said, and he later confessed to the assault.

Roe was arrested the same day as the assault, Jan. 7. He has been in the county jail ever since in lieu of $500,000 bond.
