BELTON — A man who police said pulled a gun on a McDonald’s employee during an altercation in November was indicted on a felony assault charge Wednesday.

A Bell County grand jury indicted 31-year-old Roderick Bethea, of Killeen, on a third-degree felony charge of aggravated assault.

Bethea was arrested by Killeen police Nov. 11 after an altercation that occurred at the McDonald’s restaurant location in the 3700 block of Clear Creek Road in Killeen.

According to an arrest affidavit, Bethea was seen arguing with employees at the restaurant.

An employee told police that Bethea left the store, then returned with a handgun and pointed it at him, according to the affidavit.

Killeen police arrived on the scene at 1:55 a.m., and found Bethea in the parking lot.

The affidavit stated that an officer used a Taser on Bethea after he failed to comply with orders to get on the ground.

During his interaction with the police, Bethea said he had not done anything, the affidavit stated.

Police searched a vehicle and recovered a Smith & Wesson 9 mm handgun.

The weapon was loaded with 14 rounds, one of which was chambered, the arrest affidavit stated.

Bethea is currently in custody in Bell County Jail, and his bond is set at $50,000, according to jail records.
