BELTON - A Bell County grand jury on Wednesday indicted a 23-year-old Killeen man accused of raping a woman on a Killeen roadside.

Jonathan Ross Leonard is charged with two counts of sexual assault and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

The charges stem from a July 1 incident on Roy Reynolds Drive. Court records state Leonard and a man met two women at the Loop Hole Club in Killeen that night. After awhile, the four left the club in a truck and drove to Nolan Creek to swim.

The alleged victim told police she decided to stay in the vehicle and sleep while the others swam. Later, Leonard woke the woman and dragged her out of the truck and onto the ground.

He threatened to kill her and then sexually assaulted her, an arrest affidavit states.

During the assault, the woman managed to get away from Leonard and yell for help. She told police she heard the sound of the truck starting, so she hid in a ditch. She said she then saw Leonard drive away from the scene.

When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a naked woman climbing out of a ditch. She was placed into a police car and given a blanket.

Police located Leonard and the truck at a convenience store at Veterans Memorial Boulevard and Roy Reynolds Drive. Leonard was passed out on the floor just inside the entrance of the store, the affidavit states.

The truck's owner was identified as the female friend of the alleged victim. She told police she did not give Leonard permission to drive the truck.
