BELTON — A Killeen man accused of killing a Killeen police detective in May pleaded not guilty to a charge of capital murder in Bell County district court this morning.
Marvin Louis Guy, 49, entered his plea after Bell County District Attorney Henry Garza read the charges against Guy in the courtroom of 27th District Court Judge John Gauntt this morning.
Guy is accused of killing detective Charles "Chuck" Dinwiddie during a shootout at a Killeen apartment May 9. Dinwiddie and other KPD SWAT officers were attempting to serve a narcotics search warrant when the shooting began.
A total of four officers were hit. Two were protected by their body armor. Another, officer Odis Denton, was hit in the leg. Dinwidde was hit in the face, and died in the hospital two days later.
Guy remains in Bell County jail. If convicted of Dinwiddie's murder, he could face the death penalty.
