A Killeen man accused of murder was reindicted by a Bell County grand jury Wednesday to add prior convictions from out of state.

Kevin Clayton Wright, 31, was indicted Wednesday on a charge of first-degree murder as a habitual offender, according to district court documents. He was originally indicted in April on a murder charge related to the death of his 22-year-old girlfriend on Feb. 11, according to previous reports by the Killeen Daily Herald.

Wright's previous out-of-state convictions detailed in Wednesday's indictment occurred in Illinois and included possession of cannabis and aggravated unlawful use of a vehicle as a weapon.

According to an arrest report, officers responded to a call at Wright's Killeen home on Feb. 11 and found a woman dead with a gunshot wound behind her ear.

Wright admitted to police that he was arguing with his girlfriend because she came home late. He said he took his gun out of his shoulder harness and "racked a round" in an attempt to frighten her, according to the arrest affidavit.

The gun went off and she was shot in the head, Wright told police. He took police to a field to the south of the apartment building and located a .40-caliber handgun with an empty magazine, the report stated.

Also indicted Wednesday were:

Cory James Mires, 18, of Killeen, on a charge of aggravated sexual assault. Mires is accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl.

Miguel Angel Gonzalez, 46, of Killeen, on a charge of aggravated sexual assault. Gonzalez is accused of sexually assaulting a girl numerous times when she was between the ages of 5 and 11.

Shawn David Miller, 39, of Harker Heights, on a charge of escape, a third-degree felony. Miller escaped from the Bell County Jail on Oct. 15, where he was being held pending a probation revocation of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Amanda Joy Rivera, 30, of Killeen, on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Rivera is accused of beating a man with a flashlight.

Francheska Jene Dawson, 22, of Killeen, on a charge of injury to a child. Dawson is accused of beating a 4-year-old boy with a belt while she was watching him.

Mary Elisa Wise, 39, of Temple, on a sexual assault charge. Wise is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old boy who she met through her daughter.

Kacy Leander Smith, 22, of Temple, on a charge of third-degree felony arson for allegedly setting a woman's car on fire after she broke up with him.
