Killeen police are searching for a man who robbed a local bank in broad daylight Wednesday afternoon.
The man walked into the First National Bank near the intersection of Stan Schlueter Loop and U.S. Highway 190 just after 1 p.m. and handed a teller a note that said he was armed and demanded money.
The teller handed the man an undisclosed amount of money before he left the bank on foot.
Shortly after the robbery, police swarmed the bank and the surrounding buildings, which included the Hallmark Inn and restaurant.
They searched the bank, hotel and restaurant, but did not find the robber.
The robber was described as a “50-ish” white male about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds.
Police said the man had “scruffy” hair and was unshaven. He wore glasses and a red hat with the word “Titleist” on it.
Smith said the robber wore a gray-colored shirt, a dark-colored vest, light-colored denim pants and black Nike shoes.
He is believed to be armed and dangerous.
