Killeen police arrested two men accused of attempting to steal items from a garage.

Police charged Johnny Duane Martin, 53, and Edward Lee Selby, 57, each with burglary of a building. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned the men Thursday, setting their bond at $50,000 each.

The alleged burglary took place Tuesday at a home in the 1600 block of 22nd Street.

An officer arrived on the scene as two men later identified as Martin and Selby were moving items from inside a garage to a pickup truck, according to an arrest affidavit. The officer saw that a washing machine as well as numerous metal items had been placed in the truck’s bed.

He then contacted the homeowner, who told police no one had permission to enter his garage and take items, the affidavit stated.
