The Bell County District’s Attorney’s Office is reviewing a burglary Tuesday during which a Killeen resident fired upon four home invaders and critically injured one, Killeen police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said Thursday.

Police officers responded to a call of a burglary-in-progress in the 200 block of West Mary Jane Drive around 11:20 p.m. The homeowner fired several shots toward the door as the suspect was attempting to break in, according to a news release issued by the Killeen Police Department.

Shortly after the attempted burglary, police reported that a person arrived at Metroplex Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. The burglary suspect is currently reported as being in stable condition, police said.

Charges were pending the completion of the district attorney’s review.

The department did not release the names of the suspects or resident Thursday.

Miramontez said KPD was not seeking to press charges against the resident.
