One person was shot outside a Killeen convenience store Friday afternoon.
The incident happened in the parking lot of Handy Stop Grocery in the 400 block of North Gilmer Street, just before 3:30 p.m..
The victim was approached in the parking lot by a black male, police said. The two exchanged words, and the victim attempted to run and was shot by the suspect, according to Killeen Police Department spokeswoman Carroll Smith.
The victim was taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood with nonlife-threatening injuries. Smith said the suspect was still at large.
He is described as a black male between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 150 to 160 pounds. He wore a dark shirt and blue jeans.
Smith said the shooting was possibly related to another shooting that took place Wednesday night at a nearby apartment complex in the 500 block of Wyoming Drive.
That incident left two men seriously injured.
Both men are still in the hospital, she said.
