Killeen police arrested a person of interest in connection to Tuesday's robbery and homicide at Morgan Manor Apartments.

Shamar Lamar Lewis, 17, also known as “Savage,” was in the parking lot of the apartment complex during the incident, according to a news release. He was arrested Thursday.

Lewis was in the Killeen City Jail awaiting arraignment about 5 p.m., Killeen Police Department spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said.

Officers responded to 1506 Bundrant Drive at 8:08 p.m. Tuesday in response to a robbery call.

When police arrived, a male victim was found lying on the ground, unconscious and not breathing.

The victim was taken to Seton Medical Center Harker Heights, where he was pronounced dead by Bell County Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 10:07 p.m.

Officers involved in the investigation said the victim was in the parking lot of the Morgan Manor Apartments when he was approached by three or four individuals. Police have not released the victim’s name.

During a verbal altercation that followed, police said the individuals robbed the victim and brutally attacked him, causing multiple injuries.

The unidentified suspects fled the area in an unknown vehicle.
