Reginald Cornelius Gurley was arraigned on a charge of possession of marijuana, 5 pounds or less but more than 4 ounces Tuesday.
Gurley was pulled over by a Killeen police officer on Saturday in the 4300 block of East Stan Schlueter Loop, and pulled into a Mickey's gas station within 1,000 feet of a school, according to the affidavit for arrest.
A small child was in the back of the truck, and the two adults in the car were identified and removed from the truck after they made suspicious movements, according to the affidavit. The officer said that he smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car, and asked Gurley if he had any drugs on him. Gurley told the officer that he stuffed marijuana down his pants and in his pocket, according to the affidavit.
Gurley told police that he was meeting a man who needed marijuana, according to the affidavit. There was $950 in his wallet, and the suspected marijuana tested positive through a field test for 7.7 ounces. It has been sent to a Texas Department of Public Safety lab for further testing.
In an unrelated incident, Novell Connor, 51, was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown Tuesday. Police said held a gun to his wife's head and threatened to kill her during a disagreement Sunday.
