Killeen police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying two men they believe have been working together during several burglaries in Killeen.

The men are described as a heavyset black man and a stocky white man. The Killeen Police Department released photos of the men, though Smith could not say where those photos originated.

"We need to find out who these guys are," Smith said.

The two men are believed to have burglarized a vehicle Nov. 3 in the 1800 block of Sunset Street. A resident notified police after hearing what he believed to be a gunshot.

When police arrived, they found a window shot out and items stolen from a vehicle.

Smith said it is uncommon for vehicle burglars to break windows, whether with a gun or any other instruments.

Burglars tend to commit crimes of convenience, targeting cars with unlocked doors and those with valuables visible from the windows.

Smith said people need to remember to lock their doors at all times. Valuable items should be removed from the vehicle or at least moved.

"Don't make it easy," Smith said.

Detectives are asking anyone who can identify the two men to call Crime Stoppers at (254) 526-TIPS (8477), go online at www.killeencrimestoppers.com or text the word KILLEEN along with the tip to CRIMES (274637).

All tips are confidential and can be anonymous. Tips resulting in an arrest are eligible for a $1,000 reward.
