A Harker Heights man is behind bars after police said he used a headlock to choke his girlfriend.

Damien Lamar England, 31, was arraigned Monday on a charge of assault of a family/household member, strangulation, a third-degree felony.

The charge stems from a violent domestic incident between England and his girlfriend that occurred about 4 a.m. Saturday in Harker Heights, police said.

The woman told police England came home from the Starlight Lounge in Killeen and began to go through the call history on her phone, according to an arrest affidavit.

The woman asked England to stop. He then threw her phone and keys into a field across the street.

As the argument continued, the woman grabbed a piece of England’s property to try to get him to retrieve hers.

England then grabbed the woman from behind and put a choke hold on her, the affidavit stated.

The victim told police she felt dizzy while in the choke hold, the affidavit stated.

Officers observed the woman had red discoloration on her throat, and an abrasion with fresh blood.

Monday, Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned England and set his bail at $100,000. England is in custody in Bell County Jail.

Potvin also arraigned the following on unrelated charges:

• Jessica Denise White, 31, of Killeen, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram. White’s bail was set at $20,000.

• Latoya Ashley Miles, 26, of Harker Heights, on a charge of harassment of a public servant. Miles’ bail was set at $50,000.

This guy is reprehensible. I cannot meet a new girlfriend because of my anxiety disorder but guys like this do not value what they have.
