Harker Heights — Police are investigating an early morning shooting that placed one in the hospital.

The shooting occurred at 3:59 a.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 1600 block of Inca Drive according to a statement from the Harker Heights Police Department released Thursday morning.

Police responded to reports of shots fired, and found a male victim in the immediate area with a gunshot wound to his "lower extremities" according to police.

The man was transported to Scott & White Hospital in Temple, and his condition is "undetermined."

Police are still investigating the incident, and said further information will be disseminated at a later date.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Harker Heights Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 254-953-5400.
