Police: Man held burglar at gunpoint

A Harker Heights resident held a would-be burglar at gunpoint after the resident woke up to the sound of someone rummaging through the home late Tuesday.

Keegan Jackson, 19, entered a residence in the 300 block of Indian Oaks Drive about 11:27 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest affidavit.

The resident confronted Jackson with a firearm, holding him at gunpoint until Harker Heights police officers arrived.

The officers found Jackson with several items from the residence including an iPad, video games and 32 DVDs, which he stuffed in a pillow case, the affidavit stated.

Jackson was charged with burglary of a habitation, criminal mischief and possession of marijuana.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin onWednesday. The bond for his felony burglary charge was set at $50,000.

Jackson also has outstanding warrants out of Brazos County for failure to identify, according to Harker Heights police.

Potvin also arraigned the following individuals on unrelated charges Wednesday:

Luis Javier Vasquez, 34, on a charge of evading arrest with a motor vehicle. Vasquez’s bond was set at $20,000.

Chauncey Raimund Wiggins, 32, on a charge of possession of methamphetamine in an amount of 4 grams or more, but less than 400 grams. Wiggins’ bond was set at $30,000.

  • A burglary of a motor vehicle was reported at 4:41 a.m. Tuesday in the 2800 block of Hemlock Drive. Motor vehicle parts were stolen.
  • A burglary of a habitation with forced entry was reported at 4:53 p.m. in the 4000 block of Roundrock Drive. The home’s front door was kicked in, but no items were taken.
  • A burglary of a habitation with forced entry was reported at 10:23 p.m. Tuesday in the 3300 block of Timber Oak Drive.
  • Driving while license suspended, revoked, canceled or denied was reported at 1:07 a.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of Grey Fox Trail.
  • Failure to comply with requirements upon striking unattended vehicle was reported at 4:49 a.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of North W.S. Young Drive in Killeen.
  • An assault with bodily injury was reported at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the 2200 block of Caprice Drive.
  • An assault by contact was reported at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of Hall Avenue.
  • A burglary of a vehicle was reported at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 2200 block of U.S. Highway 190.
  • A theft under $50 was reported at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of South Fort Hood Street.
  • A false statement to obtain property or credit was reported at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of West Veterans Memorial Boulevard.
  • A theft under $50 was reported at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Lowes Boulevard.
  • A false statement to obtain property or credit was reported at 3:37 p.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of South Fort Hood Street.
  • A fictitious license plate sticker was reported at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Corona Drive and Willow Springs Road.
  • Criminal trespass was reported at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Sutton Drive.
  • A theft, misdemeanor shoplifting, was reported at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Lowes Boulevard.
  • An assault with bodily injury was reported at 6:09 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of Illinois Avenue.
  • An assault with bodily injury was reported at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of West Veterans Memorial Boulevard.
  • Possession of marijuana under 2 ounces was reported at 8:31 p.m. Tuesday in the 4300 block of Lake Road.
  • A theft, misdemeanor shoplifting, was reported at 9:46 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Lowes Boulevard.
  • Possession of marijuana under 2 ounces was reported at 9:56 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of North 38th Street and Westcliff Road.
  • Possession of marijuana under 2 ounces was reported at 10:11 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of North 10th Street and East E Avenue.

Copperas Cove

  • A burglary of a building was reported a 2:42 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of South 11th Street.
  • A forgery of a government document was reported at 7:58 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of West U.S. Highway 190.

Harker Heights

  • A burglary of a residence was reported at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of Harley Drive.
