A 43-year-old Killeen man is facing felony charges after police say he attacked and injured his young daughter.
Juan Dedios Machuca Jr. was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin on Saturday on a second-degree felony charge of injury to a child.
Jail records show he was also charged with misdemeanor charges of assault and bodily injury to a family member, terroristic threat of a family member and interfering with an emergency call.
According to an arrest affidavit, a Killeen elementary school nurse contacted police April 22 after Machuca’s 10-year-old daughter reported the attack.
The girl reported that Machuca grabbed her hair and slammed her head into a wall, the affidavit stated. An officer also spoke with family members, who said that Machuca was “violent and abusive” toward the girl.
Machuca is currently in custody in Bell County Jail, and his bail is set at a total of $90,000.
Potvin also arraigned Terry Wayne Brothers, 57, on an unrelated charge of possession of less than 1 gram of methamphetamine. Brothers’ bail was set at $20,000.
