Killeen police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man they said used a stolen credit card at local businesses.

A man contacted police April 8, the day after he lost his wallet at the Killeen Mall. While reporting a credit card lost, he learned that it had been used twice since he last possessed it.

It was used Sunday at the Dillard’s located at the mall at 12:37 p.m. and again at a Citco Gas Station at 7:30 p.m.

Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect in Dillard’s. He is a black male with a thin chin-strap-style beard and long braided hair down to the middle of his back.

During the crime, he wore a white shirt, plaid shorts, red Adidas shoes and a red baseball cap.

Detectives are asking anyone who can identify the suspect to contact Crime Stoppers. Call (254) 526-8477, go to www.bellcountycrimestoppers.com or text BELLCO and the tip to 274637.

All tips are confidential and can be made anonymously. Police are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for a tip leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Why didn't the employee at Dillards ask for a picture id for the credit card use?
Maybe that should be the routine with all the id theft going on...picture id must be present when using credit cards. I know it takes a few minutes longer for the transaction, but well worth not having the fustration when cards are stolen.
I understand when using a pump at a gas station picture id isn't asked for.

I agree with you. I think Bell County should pass a law that states that when using a credit card, a photo ID must be asked for and shown. If a sales cashier gets caught not asking for an ID, they should get fired.

There is so many stolen credit cards and stolen identities in this area that I think it warrants some action!
