A Harker Heights man is facing felony charges after police said he burglarized his father’s home.

Michael Shane Laurenti, 28, was arraigned by Bell County Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke on Tuesday on a felony charge of burglary of a habitation.

Laurenti’s father told Harker Heights police that his son forced his way into his home in the 400 block of East Cardinal Avenue on Monday night and demanded money, an arrest affidavit stated.

When he refused to give his son the money, Laurenti began hitting his father in the face, striking him about 10 times, the affidavit stated.

Officers observed that Laurenti’s father had abrasions on his neck and shoulder.

Laurenti reportedly told them he only hit his father “a few times.”

Laurenti’s bail was set at $50,000.

In an unrelated case, Isaac Melchor Reyes, 48, of Killeen, was arraigned on a felony charge of possession of cocaine in an amount less than 1 gram.

Reyes is currently in Bell County Jail, and his bail was set at $20,000.
