A man was in critical condition Thursday after being shot in the chest during an argument, Killeen police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said in a news release.
The man was not identified; he was airlifted to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.
Police responded at 12:40 p.m. to a disturbance in the parking lot at 302 Wolf St. Witnesses told police they saw two black males in a verbal argument that escalated when a suspect produced a firearm and fired, the release said.
Police are investigating the incident as an aggravated assault, and are looking for the suspect, described as a thin black male in his 30s, between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet tall, with short hair and some facial hair.
The suspect fled in a gray or silver Chrysler 300 or similar style vehicle, police said.
