A shooting took place in the 2700 block of Roadrunner Drive in Killeen on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017.

A woman and a child were found shot Wednesday morning in west Killeen.

Killeen police officers responded to reports of a shooting victim in the 2700 block of Roadrunner Drive around 4 a.m. Two victims, a woman and a child, had gunshot wounds, according to the Killeen Police Department.

The woman underwent surgery and was listed in “stable but critical condition,” while the child was in stable condition, police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said.

The investigation is ongoing and information will be released as it becomes available.

Roadrunner Drive was otherwise quiet around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Neighbors said that although they have heard gunshots before, there is usually not a lot of activity on the street, which is one-fifth of a mile from Maxdale Elementary School. Residents were hesitant to speak on the record because an arrest had not been announced.

There were six incidents reported to police in the vicinity of Roadrunner Drive in the past year. There were three assaults, a vandalism, a car theft and a burglary in 2017.

May God protect all who live, or dare to venture anywhere near KILLeen. Holy Father, protect the innocents, as that crime reduction scam doesn't appear to be working very well by the inexperienced, unlicensed person imported to be knighted as chief of KILLeen PD (real police). Only our Almighty Father God can help the innocent people of KILLeen, the unlicensed CHEEF can't, and the clownsCIL running your city are inept.

@(*0*)@ I would like to know what I the number of shootings in Killeen this year? Not just the ones resulting in death/murder.

Maybe it's time Ft Hood had its soldiers and families move back onto base, until Killeen can clean its city up. I also think this would not only keep soldiers safe, which would protect the tax payers investment that can reach up to 300k in training, education, pay and more per soldier. It will also show where the crime is coming from by watching the increase and decrease of crimes. This would tell us what area of crime is coming from the base, or what is local. This would also give the base chance to work with the city in a joint effort in taking a bite out of crime, gangs and Hate groups ( all hate groups).
The crime is out of hand here, we need to focus on the gangs, and those dealing in meth/heroin/pills.
Texas or at lest bell county needs to legalize WEED or start looking at this as away to fund, our police depts, schools and rehebs for the heroin ,meth and pill heads . This is also away a good way to free up some officers and Dect. times so they can work on things like gangs and violence.

We need to look at options and taxing and bonds are not fixing these problems.
Jobs, is a start at fixing the problem, as jobs bring money relief in ones life, which lowers domestic violence and other crimes. Education and better job education for adults is a good one as well. Legal weed brings this as it brings in jobs, money and taxable money for the city.
