A third woman is facing felony charges in connection with the burglary and beating of a local woman.
April Nichole Whitfield, 34, of Killeen, was arraigned Wednesday on a second-degree felony charge of burglary of a habitation by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke.
Killeen police said Whitfield, along with Adrienne Latrice Barnes, 35, of Copperas Cove, and Nikki Crawford, 26, of Killeen, are responsible for burglarizing an apartment at the Modern Inn on Root Avenue on Feb. 21, and attacking the resident inside. Witnesses told police that Barnes, Crawford and the third woman forced their way into the apartment and beat the victim with a hammer and an expandable baton, according to an arrest affidavit.
The victim was sent to the hospital for treatment, and later identified the three women who attacked her.
Barnes and Crawford were arraigned Feb. 24 by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin. Both of their bails were set at $50,000.
Cooke set Whitfield’s bail at $50,000 on Wednesday. All three women are currently in custody in Bell County Jail.
