The First National Bank Texas in the 4300 block of East Central Texas Expressway was robbed just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Police have not confirmed that they have detained a suspect; however, reports from a police scanner indicated a female suspect is in custody.

A news release from the Killeen Police Department states a black male or female suspect about 5 feet, 6 inches tall wearing a black bandana, black shirt and black pants entered the bank Wednesday.

The suspect gave a bank teller a note indicating the suspect was armed and demanded money, according to KPD spokeswoman Carroll Smith.

Police believe there may be a second suspect involved in the robbery; however, that person did not enter the bank. Witnesses told police a black male might have fled the scene with the suspect. They fled the bank on foot and headed east, the release states.

Police later detained a woman who gave several false identifications after a traffic stop. An officer located a note under the driver's seat that might have been used in the robbery, radio communications between officers indicated.

Smith would not confirm that the person was connected to the robbery and said KPD had not charged anyone with the bank robbery as of 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

This was the fifth reported bank robbery this year in Killeen.

Police are asking anyone with information about Wednesday's bank robbery to call Crime Stoppers at (254) 526-TIPS (8477), go to www.killeencrimestoppers.com or text the word "Killeen" along with the tip to 274637. Police are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
