Funeral services for Detective Charles “Chuck” Dinwiddie, who died Sunday after being shot in the line of duty, will be this week, Killeen Police Department officials said.

The Dinwiddie family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 3310 S. W.S. Young Drive in Killeen.

The funeral is at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center, 3601 S. W.S. Young Drive. Burial will follow at Killeen City Cemetery.

Dinwiddie, an 18-year veteran of the department, was shot early Friday as he and other members of the department’s Tactical Response Unit attempted to execute a narcotics search warrant.

Dinwiddie died Sunday at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

On Monday, friends, family and fellow officers gathered at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen to meet the police escort that led a hearse carrying Dinwiddie’s body from Temple.
